FREE Science Professional Learning Opportunities with the Ohio Department of Education

 Dates: 11/18/19, 1/13/20, 5/18/20

The science team in the Office of Learning and Instructional Strategies at the Ohio Department of Education is piloting a three-day, sustained professional learning series for K-12 science teachers. We are providing services at seven sites in partnership with ESCs and local school districts. Although we are unable to serve every district this year, we would welcome a representative from your organization to participate and take the experience back to your area. This could be someone from an ESC staff, an SST member, a district curriculum person or local teacher-leader, whoever is best positioned to share the knowledge with science teachers in your area.

The series is designed for teachers to participate in three day-long sessions with the ODE science team. The sessions are spaced several weeks apart for teachers to have the opportunity to try lessons in their classrooms between sessions. Session content will focus on transitioning to the revised science standards and model curriculum, effective instructional practices and identifying quality instructional materials. The locations, dates and contact person for each site are listed below. Locations have been asked to reserve space for neighboring personnel but the availability of space for outside people varies by location. If you are interested in participating, please contact the site which is most convenient for you and follow their registration procedure.
