Getting started with Grow with SECO is as easy as 1, 2, 3...

1. Make sure you are a member of SECO. Access to Grow with SECO learning resources is free but in order to earn CEUs, badges and points you must be a member of SECO. To become a member of SECO go to https://scienceeducationofohio1.wildapricot.org/Join-Us

2. Make sure you have a Google account. You can use either your work account or a personal account but all assignments must be completed in a Google Classroom class. If you don't have a google account go to Google.com and create a free account. Click here for step by step directions.

3. Fill out the Grow with SECO registration form by clicking here. Once approved you will receive an invite for the Grow with SECO Class.


What is Grow with SECO?

Grow with SECO is an online professional learning program designed to help better personalize educator training. Educators will complete themed tasks to earn badges, CEUs and points.

Tell me more about the tasks!

There are four types of tasks: Ohio Science Supports are geared specifically to Ohio Science Educators and are focused around Ohio's Learning Standards for Science and Ohio Science Assessments. Science Instructional Resources are items that have been highlighted in one of SECO's monthly webinars such as the Grid Method. Interdisciplinary Science Connections show how science can be integrated with other subjects areas such as literacy or STEM instruction. Instructional Technology Tidbits are designed to provide science educators with the latest and greatest technology tips and tools for the science classroom.

Why should I participate?

All science educators are encouraged to participate in the Grow with SECO program. Completing the challenges encourages you to implement the Ohio Standards for Science, best instructional practices in science education and instructional technology tools. Not only can you earn prizes, but you can also pick up some new skills along the way.

Can I earn contact hours or CEUs for my work?

Yes, access to Grow with SECO learning resources is free but in order to earn CEUs, badges and points you must be a member of SECO. To become a member of SECO go to https://scienceeducationofohio1.wildapricot.org/Join-Us This will give you access to the Grow with SECO Google Classroom where you can complete your work and submit it for CEUs from SECO.
