This is an exciting time for SECO as we continue to grow, adapt to the ever-changing needs of our membership, and collaborate with our science partners located throughout the state and country. The Executive Committee and Board of Directors are proud of the direction in which SECO is moving and are are looking for leadership to continue this momentum. We are looking for leaders who will guide and lead SECO through the challenges of the 21st century.
The board meets approximately 4-5 times throughout the year where we work on a wide variety of topics in the field of science education. Some of the recent work we have been associated with includes acting on the advisory board for the science standards revision, hosting the annual science symposium, consistent collaboration with the Ohio Department of Education, and working with various other formal and informal science entities throughout the state to bring high quality science education to all learners.

Upon election, an individual for the presidential chain will serve a one-year term as President-Elect, a two-year term as President, and a one-year term as Past-president. To be eligible for nomination for the office of President-Elect, an individual must be a member of SECO, must have been a member of SECO continuously for one-year prior to his/her nomination, and have served on the SECO Board for at least one full term as a District Director.
The President serves as the Chief Executive Officer of SECO for a two-year term. The President provides general supervision over the business of SECO, subject to control of the Board of Directors. The President presides at all meetings of the members and at all meetings of the Board of Directors. The President executes business for and on behalf of SECO, including all contracts and agreements, and other legal instruments. The President is responsible for appointing standing committees and if deemed necessary, special committees. The President also performs all duties incident to the office of President and such other duties as may be designated from time to time by the Board of Directors.
The President-Elect or Immediate Past President is responsible for chairing the Elections Committee, supervise the election process, and any other duties assigned by the President. The President-Elect or Immediate Past-President will preside at the Board of Directors meeting in the absence of the President or any other duties as assigned by the President.
