Upon election, an individual for the presidential chain will serve a one-year term as President-Elect, a two-year term as President, and a one-year term as Past-president. To be eligible for nomination for the office of President-Elect, an individual must be a member of SECO, must have been a member of SECO continuously for one-year prior to his/her nomination, and have served on the SECO Board for at least one full term as a District Director.
The President serves as the Chief Executive Officer of SECO for a two-year term. The President provides general supervision over the business of SECO, subject to control of the Board of Directors. The President presides at all meetings of the members and at all meetings of the Board of Directors. The President executes business for and on behalf of SECO, including all contracts and agreements, and other legal instruments. The President is responsible for appointing standing committees and if deemed necessary, special committees. The President also performs all duties incident to the office of President and such other duties as may be designated from time to time by the Board of Directors.
The President-Elect or Immediate Past President is responsible for chairing the Elections Committee, supervise the election process, and any other duties assigned by the President. The President-Elect or Immediate Past-President will preside at the Board of Directors meeting in the absence of the President or any other duties as assigned by the President.
