The Science Education Council of Ohio. We are a professional services organization, 1,000 members strong and growing, with one aim in mind: SECO supports educational collaboration optimally.
We invite you to imagine, to innovate, and to invest with us as we strive to create new worth and new value for all learners. We challenge you to do as Walt Whitman proposed once: to open your eyes wide to the whole universe of all that can be possible; and hence realize your dream.
On behalf of our Board and membership, we
look forward to the inspiration your involvement will bring.
Teacher's Note: When I Heard The Learn'd Astronomer
is an old poem by Walt Whitman, put to breathtaking illustrations in
2004 by Cincinnati native Loren Long. The book can be used in K-20
classrooms as an inspirational introduction to a range of science
As the Official State Chapter of the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA), we devote ourselves to promote teachers who aspire to inspire others to pursue the higher art of our craft.
2015 NSTA Presenter Eric Rank leads a digital STEM lab at New Haven Public Schools in New York. His 2-minute video catalogs simple, experiential engagement lessons visualized, and is worth sharing.
SECO was established in 1977, and has continuously promoted the advancement of science education in Ohio. The key to SECO's effectiveness is its membership. Our members include elementary, middle school, junior high and senior high teachers. We welcome college-level instructors, administrators, suppliers of science equipment and textbooks, and all others interested in science.
