Kurt is the principal of Lima Ridge Elementary School. He was nominated for this award by one of his teachers.  She shares: “Under Kurt’s leadership, staff engage in purposeful and high-impact professional development centered on student engagement, inquiry based learning, and the integration of STEM across all content areas. He models lifelong learning by participating alongside his staff, ensuring that professional growth remains both meaningful and directly connected to classroom practice.

Through Kurt’s guidance and support, Licking Heights launched its first-ever elementary STEM program—an initiative that has inspired collaboration, creativity, and a shared sense of purpose among educators. His vision extends far beyond this initial success; he is committed to embedding STEM principles in every classroom, cultivating an environment where science learning is dynamic, relevant, and accessible to all students.”

Holly has been an incredibly active member of SECO, serving on the board, as Treasurer, and as President.  Holly is beyond  passionate about Science Education both in supporting students and fellow educators. Her knowledge is impressive and her willingness to help others to be successful even more so! Even after retiring, Holly gave of her time in attending Rubric Validation meetings to help ensure that the State Assessments are both valid and fair for our students. Her attention to detail helped provide invaluable feedback. Holly is a tremendous advocate for science education, science students, and science educators. She generously gives of both her time and her knowledge to help SECO, its members (and its nonmembers) to be successful.
